5. SCHINDLER AWARD

Our ongoing project is a competition called Schindler Award. It mainly concerns a new master plan for the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games site and has focus on accessibility and barrier-free mobility for people of all ages and capabilities. It also involves developing a new hotel for the area as well as re-organizing the existing sporting facilities.
We are currently working in groups on this task and have just started, meaning we only have an overall concept scheme for the area and no such thing as finished building structures. Conceptually we are dealing a lot with landscaping so far.

3. INITIAL 3D STUDIES

For the second pinup we worked parallel in Maya with a surface mass study of a lava landscape and a more close up study of bone structure. Different modeling techniques were used. In modeling the landscape we worked with an irregular grid. For the inner porous structure a distorted module was used to achieve a system with irregualrity.

2. MASS INSPIRATION

After having researched Bernini and Borromini and their approach to mass in sculpting we set out to search for our own inspiration pictures for the first pin up. Bone structure met lava landscape.
